Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox

Launch X431 X-prog3 programmer is very good at ECU/TCU cloning. Here comes an example of Mercedes Benz VGS NAG3 gearbox cloning.

 

 

Device required:

Launch X431 X431 PAD VII/PAD V series or IMMO series tablet (IMMO PLUS/IMMO Elite/IMMO Pro)

Launch X-Prog3 programmer

Launch MCU3 adapter

Original VGS3 gearbox

New VGS3 gearbox need to replace

 

*To perform ECU/TCU cloning function with X-prog3 you should have X431 PAD or IMMO series tablets. X431 V/V+/Pros with X-prog3 won’t do ECU cloning.

 

Select IMMO Prog function

Connect X-PROG3 with IMMO Plus (connection instruction)

Select Gearbox->Benz->VGS-NAG3->View Wiring Diagram->Connect to MCU3 adapter plate

Connect VGS gearbox with X431 IMMO Plus tablet follow the wiring diagram

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 8
Connect Gearbox

Do a Backup full data

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 9

Read and save flash data

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 10

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 11

Disconnect old VGS NAG3 gearbox

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 12

Connect new VGS NAG3 gearbox need to be replaced

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 13

Backup full data of the new VGS NAG3

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 14

Select Restore complete data
Update original VGS data to restore

Make sure Bosch bumber of the new ECU is the same from that of the original ECU.

Write eeprom and flash to new VGS3

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 18

Launch X-prog3 Clone Mercedes VAG NAG3 Gearbox 19

Then verify if the VIN code is the same.

Launch X431 V+ or PIWIS-III for Porsche Diagnosis?

I have the Launch X431 V+ Pros Mini which I purchased new from obdii365 for $1079. I also have a PIWIS III clone V38.90 that i purchased from another website for $1429. I purchased the Launch X431 V+ with the intent of using it to flash a used control module for my car. When I discovered that the Launch X431 V+ could not do that I purchased a PIWIS III clone with the intention of selling the Launch X431 V+ but I have not got around to selling it yet because it is so much easier to use then the PIWIS III.Here is what I have done so far with each one.
